September Members Meeting

A recap of the September member meeting.

We were honoured to host Dr Hussain Jafri, the Chief Executive Officer of the World Patients Alliance (WPA), as our guest speaker.

Our discussion centred around the importance of patient safety — a critical pillar of healthcare that touches every life. The presentation reminded us that safety is not just a policy or procedure, but a culture that must be nurtured within every health system.

We also learned more about World Patient Safety Day, a global observance that highlights the need to prioritize safety in every patient journey. This year’s theme emphasises collaboration between patients, healthcare providers, and systems to ensure that no life is compromised by preventable harm.

A particularly moving moment was the recognition and honouring of nurses. Nurses stand on the frontlines of care, often carrying the emotional and physical weight of patient safety. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment are the backbone of healthcare. We celebrated their essential role in safeguarding lives and strengthening trust between patients and the system.

Patient safety is everyone’s business. As patients, advocates, caregivers, and health professionals, we all play a role in ensuring that care is delivered with dignity, respect, and safety at its core.

We are grateful to Dr Jafri for sharing his wisdom and passion with us, and to all our members for joining this important conversation.

Our next meeting is October 22nd at 10 PM UTC, we hope you’ll join us!
