August Members Meeting

A recap of the August monthly member meeting.

This month’s member meeting was both eye-opening and inspiring! We had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Kirac from the Institute for Gastrointestinal Tumors (IGET) in Croatia. She gave us a comprehensive look at their amazing "Iget It All" program.

IGET’s mission is to improve the quality of life and healthcare services for individuals affected by gastrointestinal cancers by raising awareness, encouraging timely diagnosis, ensuring access to effective treatment, and supporting both rehabilitation and palliative care.

A central part of IGET’s vision is the belief that collaboration is essential between patients, healthcare professionals, non-medical personnel, and cancer survivors. This inclusive approach not only supports those currently undergoing treatment but also empowers survivors to contribute their experience to the betterment of the system. Their weekly sessions are jam-packed!

The highlight was a powerful and creative video they shared on CRC awareness. What stood out was their unique use of a cartoon video clip and the creative arts as models to tell the story. This approach made the message both relatable and accessible, breaking down a serious topic into something engaging and easy to connect with.

It reminded us that awareness doesn’t always have to be heavy—it can be creative, approachable, and even artistic while still carrying a powerful message.

Our next member meeting is September 17th at 8 AM UTC, we hope you’ll join us!
